Cinq Music was conceived by Barry Daffurn as a digital music distribution company in 2012, Cinq now includes rights management, content creation and label services for recording artists.[2] Janet Jackson released her "Made For Now" music video in collaboration with Cinq in August 2018,[3][4][5] the collaboration with Daddy Yankee, returned Jackson to the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the first time since 2015,[6] and her 20th number one on the Dance Club Songs chart.[7]

Focusing on independent and untapped talent, Percy Miller (aka Master P) became president of Urban Music Development at Cinq in 2017.[8] Cinq received first round venture capital funding in 2015,[9][10] second round funding brought Cinq under the stewardship of GoDigital Media Group and the label was integrated with the multi-platform network, VidaPrimo in 2017.[2] Miller's association with GoDigital preceded the investment in Cinq Music.[11]
