This template can be used to cite a Library of Congress finding aid in an article.

Articles that use this template are added to the tracking category Category:Articles_that_include_text_from_Library_of_Congress_finding_aids, which is a hidden category.

Usage

This template was originally created to be used with the RAMP editor; if a Library of Congress finding aid is used as the RAMP editor's input text, this template will be automatically added as a reference following the ==Timeline== section of an article, if present; otherwise, it will be added to the ==Notes and references== section following an empty {{Reflist}}. Although the RAMP editor will attempt to prepopulate the values of the template's parameters, prepopulated values should always be verified against the original finding aid.

This template includes two required parameters (url and title) and three optional parameters (author, date, and accessdate), and it includes a default call to the {{PD-notice}} template. The url parameter is used to create an external link using the finding aid's title. The value of this parameter can be found in the Finding Aid Permalink field of the Collection Summary tab on an LOC finding aid webpage (see, for example, the finding aid for the Charles Eames and Ray Eames Papers.

{{Cite LOC finding aid
|author = [author(s) of finding aid, if listed]
|url = [permalink URL of finding aid]
|title = [title of finding aid]
|date = [date finding aid was published, if provided]
|accessdate = [date finding aid was accessed online]
}}
